Zayed National Museum

Zayed National Museum is part of the cultural development programme on Saadiyat island in Abu Dhabi, designed by event communications and content developed by the British Museum. The museum consists of four main galleries within an extraordinary architectural landmark designed by fosters + partners. The kettle like interiors for the galleries provided an experiential challenge to engage the visitors with the height of the space, leading to sculptural moments in each. The four galleries focused on subjects on world subjects told through the lens of the UAE; Science + Learning, Faith + Islam, People + Society and Heritage and Culture.

As Lead Designer on the Faith + Islam gallery my focus was in developing a design that combined architecture, content and visitor experience in a unique and engaging way. Due to the collaborative nature of the project between internal team members, other companies and the client a great deal of work in developing the design needed to be visual and clear. The range of the cross company collaboration led me to working individually internally, utilising the team only in the detail stages of the design.
