RAF 100 Years Gallery

The 100 Years Gallery at the RAF Museum, designed and delivered by Met Studio celebrates the stories, people and formation of the RAF over its first 100 year period. The gallery looks at 4 important themes across the RAF; Support, Prepare, Projects & Protects and uses the larger objects (aircraft) to distinguish between each of the thematic zones. Due to the nature of the space (aircraft hanger), subject at hand (RAF’s history) and objects showcased (aircraft), the design needed moments that worked gallery wide. A large central sweeping projection provides gallery take-over moments whilst sculptural people 'cut-outs' tell the story of individuals across time and across the gallery.

My role as Lead Designer during the Concept Design phase meant working closely with the client to develop the design and creative process. The content proved a key requirement before developing the design spatially and led to the need for facilitated workshops throughout the process to ensure active communication. This meant the delivery of concept design involved the client and provided us with the stories and content necessary for an engaging experience.
